ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Harrison Little League is a Volunteer program co-sponsored by the Harrison Recreation Department. Annual evaluations assess each child's ability, and coaches will properly place the players on teams according to Grade, Skill and League Age.
Our leagues are designed to allow a child to develop his/her skills in a Positive, constructive manner. Kindergarten children enter the program utilizing the tee-ball concept for instructional development. They continue to learn new skills at each level as they progress through the program. At League Age 9, and annually thereafter, regardless of grade, a child's baseball skills are evaluated by our volunteer coaches. Your child will be placed in a league and on a team that will attempt to provide him/her with a safe, successful and positive experience.
THE COMMITMENT
The season begins in April and will conclude by mid-June. Playing in any Little League Program requires a commitment from every participant and their parents. Baseball is a team-sport. Each participant is expected to attend the scheduled games and the practices. While there are valid excuses for missing them, individuals who do not attend at least 75% of a team's practices and 90% of the scheduled games, may be dropped from the League. As your child progresses through the program, the skill level necessary to compete will increase, therefore we demand a stronger commitment from both parent and child. Tee-Ball will play most of its games on Saturdays, but mid-week games and practices may be necessary. All minor league levels will definitely play games during the week and on Saturdays. The Major Leagues will play 2 - 3 games per week including Saturdays. Each individual participant is provided a team shirt and cap. White baseball pants are necessary. All participants must be properly dressed for each game. Every child will play in every game. (Please note that Major League players must wear white baseball pants)
In return for your commitment, parents and children will enjoy the experience of being involved in a well-organized activity that fosters skill development, discipline and a good understanding of team play. All this is possible and available to you because of the hard work of our volunteer coaches.
FINANCING AND OPERATIONS
An annual registration fee (currently $200 per child - late registration fee $300) is paid by each child in the program. This fee is used to help defray the cost of equipment, uniforms, insurance, etc. We are and always will be a volunteer organization, In an effort to maintain the high standards we have established for the program over the years, we ask our membership to volunteer their time throughout the season.
